When I see images from my childhood, I can see the fragility of the past. The same thing happens when I see the photograph of Salvador Allende, with helmet and rifle, entering one of the patios of the presidential palace on the morning of September 11, 1973.

For more than 33 years, this was the only anonymous image to win the World Press Photo award, which has not only motivated research, but also myths and ambitions.

Anonymous Image, is not only the search for the author of one of the most controversial and unknown photographs in Chile of its former president; it has been transformed, involuntarily, in an excuse to try to reveal an unknown piece of the complex puzzle which is Chile’s recent history. A history of unknown characters, far from any official recognition, who reveal to us as Chileans those qualities we lost 34 years ago: decision, compañerismo, strength, courage and drive.

This is the story of how one photograph changed the vision of a country.
